Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Michigan

statutory of limits

I am being sued from a major car company. My car was voluntary repossed back in 1992, I turned it in due to a split up with my husband, and being so young and inexperienced at the age of 20. The car was auctioned off and my balance was $4,500. I never paid on it. In 1999 on my credit report it stated a right off, and has now been cleared from my credit. The other thing that bothers me is that at that time I was married, so why ten years later this car company comes after only me and not my divorced husband? What are my rights? Can they sue me ten years later?

Re: statutory of limits

You may have a statute of limitations defense. Anyway, you need a lawyer. Anyone can sue anybody for anything. You just need to get out of it.
