Re: Taking the Bar Exam

Dear Cecilia:

Passing the Bar Exam is only part of the requirements for becoming a lawyer. Good character, or what passes for good character, is also required. Your inmate will have the opportunity to show that he has reformed and is now a person of "good character." That is not to say that the determination is perfunctory. It is a serious determination by the appropriate committee of the bar. It has resulted in law school graduates who have served prison terms, not being accepted, and being admitted. Good luck!
