Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Michigan

Video cameras in the workplace

I work for a sheriff dept. Here in michigan. There are video cameras installed inside the jail lobby. Yet, no one was ever given any written notice that the cameras were there.Management (commanders of this sheriff dept.) are using the video when a deputy has left the bldg. Early for disciplinary reasons. Union has not has the priveledge of looking at these videos. Is this legal for management to do? Are oour rights being violated in some type or another.
