Copyrights and Small Business

First, how do I copyright a website, and may I have someone create the website and still copyright it myself? Secondly, when holding events like a beautiful baby contest online, do I need to document it anywhere as a business or anything like that? I am going to create a beautiful baby contest on line and through the mail, and I need to know legally what I have to do. Thank you very much.

Copyrights attach at publication, but if you want slightly greater protection, you can register them. As for "everything you need to do," you need to spend some time at the bookstore and then hire counsel, who can walk you through the particulars.
