Legal Question in Technology Law in Michigan

E-mail misuse

If an unauthorized person logs into someone's business or government agency e-mail account for the purpose of sending out fake e-mail that may be embarrassing, threatening, or malicious to the rightful user or to the parties receiving the e-mail, what laws deal with this type of intrusion? What rights does the abused party have?

You could sue the person in either district or circuit court arguing that the comments are libel - that is written slander; interference with a business relationship; or trespass to name a few.

You should take the matter up with the administrator so that future unauthorized use can be prevented.

There may also be some federal law on the issue perhaps related to the internet, although I cannot confirm presently.
