It is not unlawful or illegal to provide information. Web sites provide information on how to commit suicide and you can get the Anarchists Cookbook from various websites. The First Amendment protects your right to publish the information.

However, if the web site or company is damaged as a result of the advice you give, nothing stops them from suing you, and you still have to defend even though, in the end, they may not recover.

The really practical question is, is it worth getting into the fight? PDF the lawyer letter and post it, and then take down the information. It explains to your readers why you did what you did, and it avoids a potential lawsuit.

If you feel strongly about it, then you had better have a good policy of insurance and be sure you're covered if you get sued.

I agree with Mr. DeWitt's advice in part. I would not so quickly bend to the threats of a lawyer. I might add a qualifier to the content indicating that you in no way advise breaking the terms of any agreement, and that a lawyer should be consulted before taking any steps. This should go a long way to protecting you.
