Re: can i sue for false statements?

You can sue for intentional infliction of emotional distress, if you can prove that the other persons' extreme and outrageous conduct was intentional or reckless. Then you have to be able to prove that that conduct caused severe emotional distress. Sure, you have a claim from the sound of it. The question is, is anything you win collectible? If there's not a chance of getting satisfaction of a judgment, very few lawyers wll take the case. You can, of course, do it without a lawyer, epsecially if your total damages are less than $3,000. You can take it to small claims court!
