Legal Question in Construction Law in Michigan
Contractor Work
I hired a individual to do some work around my house. I paid him and he hasn't completed the work. What to do?

Re: Contractor Work
You should NEVER pay a contractor until they start the work, and then only pay them at the end of each day for the work they have performed. Do you have anything in writing with this person? If not, another big mistake.
You should have a lawyer write him a letter confirming the terms of your agreement and notifying him of his breach - immediately - which will perhaps scare him enough into finishing the work instead of absconding with your money.

Thanks.
