are they simply performing an investigation? insurance companies handling disability or workers' comp claims often hire private investigators to watch the claimant, and ask the neighbors questions, such as whether they see you mowing your lawn, working on your car, or lifting heavy objects. there is nothing wrong with this. however, if they are spreading false information, you would need to show actual damages in order to prevail on a defamation claim against them.

because your claim ended 2.5 years ago, it seems odd that they would still be investigating you, unless you received a large amount of money and they just learned of some information that leads them to believe your claim was fraudulent.
