Legal Question in Consumer Law in Michigan

Auto Dealer Problems

My girlfriend and I recently purchased a new vehicle. After signing papers (application for title, financing, odometer, etc.), transferring plates, getting insurance, and taking possession the dealer called us 1 day later and informed us that they ''undervalued our trade in'' and that we needed to give them $1500. On our agreement they gave us loan pay-off value and explained to us that we were only financing the amount we wanted to finance for the purchase. Are they able to do this after signing the papers and us taking possession. What happens if they don't pay off our trade in, don't send us a title within 30 days, or don't record the transaction with the finance company? Thank you!!

Re: Auto Dealer Problems

You should tell the dealer sorry, it's too late, if you both signed a contract. If that is the case, they are now required to do all the things they agreed to do, or they will be in breach of contract. However, to really answer your question definitively, I would need to review all of your paperwork.
