Legal Question in Consumer Law in Michigan

as i was going through the automated car wash the other day, as the the attendant was spraying my jeep in the bay, he hit a ladder leaning against the wall and caused it to fall on my fender leaving a big dent on the top of it. he made an incident report admitting fault and told me the owner would contact me within a couple of days. he also said " the owner has a body repair man and he will take care of me". I called my insurance and they said it would fall under my comprehensive coverage, a $100 deductible. I went and got 3 estimates averaging $600 in repairs, not including I would be without my only vehicle for 2-3 days. I want to ask this guy for $1000 for the repairs, and inconvenience of taking time out of work, getting a rental,etc...any suggestions??? Thanks for your time.
