Legal Question in Consumer Law in Michigan

Used Car
My 17 year old son bought a car from a private seller,
the man told my son the engine was rebuilt, my son drove the car 3 times and now there is a very loud knocking in the engine, and is not driveable until he gets it fixed is there anything we can do about this?
