Legal Question in Consumer Law in Michigan
collecting on judgement
We won a judgement on Consumers Trust case. Lawyer has been unable to collect through bank. Will we ever see money? Store has opened under new name. Lawyer just keeps charging and we have seen 0 of our $20,000 judgement, fees are up to $9,000. Thanks in advance!!!

Re: collecting on judgement
You should hire a lawyer that will take the case on contingency, i.e., he gets to keep a percentage (usually 1/3), of whatever he can collect on the judgment. If he doesn't collect, then he doesn't get a fee. It could be really expensive to keep paying a lawyer an hourly fee. There are plenty that would take your case -and there are also non-lawyer companies that would attempt to collect under a similar fee agreement.
