Legal Question in Consumer Law in Michigan

I recently bought a car from a private owner on craigslist. Once I bought the car and drove home the car wouldn't start anymore, then I took it to the shop and there so much wrong wit the car from the transmission on down. And I want my money back but the previous owner won't return my calls and refuse to give me my money back. And according to the shop the car is to dangerous to drive

Buyer beware! You are stuck with the car unless you obtained some kind of written warranty from the seller. If you got a good deal, that is probably why -- you got what you paid for? On the other hand, if the ad said the car was in some other condition, you may have some recourse against the seller. You have learned a valuable lesson it seems (get the car checked out first unelss you are a mechanic or have lots of that type of experience/knowledge) and I hope it was not too costly.
This does not fall within the lemon law statute, by the way, because you bought the car from a private individual.
