Legal Question in Consumer Law in Michigan
Michigan Consumer Laws-Refunds
Greetings
My question:
Can stores (including Beauty Supply) refuse to refund money for an unused item returned within the specified time frame (a day-a week)
I've seen several stores (beauty supplies) that only issue store credits. Doesn't matter if you JUST left the store and changed your mind. Doesn't matter if you found the product is not what it claimed. They will not give you money back.

Yes stores can set whatever return policy they want, as long as they provide you notice either somewhere in the store, or on the back of your receipt. And with regards to cosmetics, bathing suits, etc., there are some health laws which prevent them from reselling those items if they are returned, which is why they don't just hand the money back.
Re: Michigan Consumer Laws-Refunds
The store must honor its contract. In order for the contract to be legal, it must be entered before the transaction is completed, i.e., before the receipt is issued. The return policy should be posted in an obvious location. If it is and it indicates, no refunds, the contract is enforceable.
