Legal Question in Consumer Law in Michigan

Motorcycle

I purchased a motorcycle from a reputable dealer. Now I have been told by a police detective it was sold to the dealer by the owners daughter in law. It is in my name, I did everything legally. Can they take my cycle, and if so, can I go back on the dealer and sue them to make it right with me? Don't they have a legal obligation to me and the state to insure something like this doesn't happen? Thanks.

Re: Motorcycle

I don't really understand the issue, but it seems there is a theft or title problem with the motorcycle since the police are involved. If the dealer sold it to you without clear title, the dealer should be in trouble, and you can probably get some kind of settlement from the dealer and maybe keep your bike since you are a bona fide purchaser.

Re: Motorcycle

Additional foundation would be required such as how does this affect the value of the motorcycle? Was this a new versus used motorcycle purchase?
