I have a verbal agreement to purchase a vehicle for $4200 on 1/11/09. I gave a $500 deposit with the balance to be paid this week. I was going to pick the vehicle up today but the party said they are backing out. Can they

depends on your agreement and whether the deposit was refundable or non-refundable. in this situation, you should be entitled to get your deposit back since they are backing out of the deal, due to no fault of your own. always put things in writing!
