Legal Question in Consumer Law in Michigan
I had rented a pontoon boat for a few hours. The rental Co. made me sign bunch of docmnts which included things like the boat is in perfect condition n I wil be liable for any damages caused. Also that they have provided me enough instructions on how to ride the boat. All this happened inside their office and the boat was physically at a different location at that time. We never got a chance to inspect the boat before riding it. Also we were given a brief set of instructions of how to ride the boat even after I informed that none of us on the boat had any experience riding a boat. Once in the water, we got stuck into a spot for about 10 min before some locals helped us by pushing us into deep water while we informed the rental Co. over the phone. On returning back one of their employee told us that we damaged the skeg and propeller which costs about $400 in parts. I signed on the docs trusting him which state the 2 parts. Since then the rental Co charged me $1700 and is pressurizing me to pay up or see legal action blaming more damages on the boat. What should I do?

I'm assuming you are charged on your credit card. If so, protest the charges as unauthorized. If they are simply billing you, don't pay and make them sue you. You can fight this out in court. www.kliszlaw.com. Tim Klisz
