Legal Question in Consumer Law in Michigan

Ring worm haircut

I recently went to a chain hair salon, where I normally go, for a haircut. The next day I noticed a small patch, about the size of a dime of hair missing. I began to notice more hair falling out daily. I finally went to the doctors and found out that I had a fungus (ring worm). The doctor said it is transmitted by combs, brushes, hats, and is very contagious. No one in my house has this and I have never had this before. I am 52 years old and this is mainly a diease of children. The doctor said the only way to prove this came from the hair salon is to have their combs tested. I have had to pay for doctors office visits, lab work and medication. The medication is $80.00 a month and I have to take it for 2 months. It is very damaging to the liver and I have to have my blood checked. I have a bald spot on the back of my head 4in x 4in. The doctor said the hair will grow back but will take time. What can I do?

Re: Ring worm haircut

Unless you can prove that the hair salon is responsible for the fungus, you will likely not have a viable lawsuit. Furthermore, your damages are relatively minor and the cost of filing a lawsuit and attorney fees are significant.
