Legal Question in Consumer Law in Michigan
seller liability
if you buy a used travel trailer and the seller tells you they believe everything works and then you take it home and find that some things do not work(refrig, stove)can you take it back or expect the seller to reimburse for repairs? Is there a time limit to liability on part of seller.

Re: seller liability
did you have anything in writing? if the seller specifically represented that everything worked, and it turned out that was untrue, that could be considered a breach of contract. however, if you were accepting the trailer in an "as is" kind of condition, your argument is weakened. you should contact the seller immediately and alert him of the items that don't work, and tell him that it was your understanding that it did work. ask him if he will refund part of your money and/or pay for the repairs. if he does agree, get it in writing and/or get the money ahead of time.
and next time test everything before you take it home - don't rely on what people say.
