Legal Question in Consumer Law in Michigan

Suing a Debt Collector

If a debt collector contacted me regarding a debt that has gone past the statue of limitation, can I use legal recourse to sue the debt collector, and if so, then by how much and how do I go about doing so on my own?

Re: Suing a Debt Collector

You could sue the debt collector in small claims court (district court) arguing that his actions are in violation of the Michigan and federal fair debt collections practices acts.
