Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Michigan
Answering a summons
I have been served by 2 debt collectors. Both forms are for separate debts. When I contacted the attourneys suing me, one said not to file an answer but that they would be sending me a form about my financial status to fill out and return. The other said to file an answer with the court explaining my situation (I currently can't afford to repay for several reasons) and see what they say. Do I listen to the attorneys offices that are suing me or do I need to consult an attorney of my own

Re: Answering a summons
You need your own attorney. If you do not answer, a judgment will be entered against you and your wages, state income tax refund, and/or bank account can be garnished under many circumstances.
I do a great deal of debtor defense work. Please feel free to contact me at 248.679.1552.
