Re: What is a attorney lien

An attorney lien is a lien placed on property for payment of attorney fees. You get rid of it by paying the attorney his or her fees. If you do not owe the fees, you will need to file a motion in court disputing the fees. Unfortunately, being disabled is not a defense for nonpayment and whether or not you are disabled will have no bearing on the right of the attorney to place a lien on property or get paid. These liens are given high priority.
