auto voluntary repossession

I am in a auto lease and can no longer afford my payments.I am unemployed,can they garnish my unemployment checks. What is my best option in this case?

They will likely repossess the auto. Contact them and make arrangements. You can be sued for breach of contract. If you are sued, a judgment could be entered against you. The judgment creditor can then garnish your income. Certain income is exempt and unemployment is one of them. it is up to you however to prove that your income is exempt from garnishment. When you receive notice that your income is going to be garnished, follow the rules on objecting within 14 days.
