Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Michigan

car registration

I live in MI. I bought a car in NY. I paid no sales tax in NY. I had some trouble getting registration and title info from dealer. When I finally got the info it was the actual plate and registration. That was in July, now they're calling saying they paid taxes and registration and want their money. Do they have legal action or just blowing smoke?

Re: car registration

I am not clear on the facts, however, anytime someone claims you owe them money, you are entitled to see the proofs against you. Make the company prove you owe the money with documentation. Request that they provide the documentation or cease in their efforts or you will counter-sue.
