Is there a way to file exemptions against garnishments?

Certain, things are ungarnishable. Doesn't mean people don't try and garnish them anyways, if its something that's ungarnishment you can do a motion for a object to garnishment, citing the relevant law which exempts the money for garnishment. if you have a job and your being garned, you can make a motion for installment plans to stop this if you win and then stick to the payment plan. the creditor could have it set aside if you don't stick to the plan. additionally, this installment plan, would not stop non-periodic garns like tax refund garns or bank account garns etc. hope that helps
