Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Michigan

Collection Letter

I received a letter from a collection agency regarding a bill from a hospital that was supposed to have occured in the years 1992-1997. I have no idea what this could be. Can they still collect after that many years?

Re: Collection Letter

The statute of limitations is generally six years from the date the debt was incurred or the date of the last payment. If it has been longer than six years since either of these occurrences, then you probably are not liable for the debt.

Good luck.
