Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Michigan

collectors are wanting debt to be paid, do not have money to pay, collectors took it to court, and looks like they are garnishing my accounts, etc... I am in the process of selling a large piece of land, to pay everybody off, but property not selling fast enough! If I call the collectors and tell them about prperty for sale, will they work with me, and put a lean on the property so when it does sell they get there money

Do not tell them about any assets or money you have. First, they will think you're giving them a line of bull. Second, if you say you have a lot of money (or will be getting a lot), then they won't negotiate with you at all. Third, bill collectors rarely cooperate with people. Your best bet is to hire an attorney to negotiate and resolve all of your debts, and also object to any garnishments so you can have less than the standard 25% taken out of your paychecks. Courts almost always grant a person's request to have the payments lowered, since everyone is on a tight budget right now. However, you have to request this through the court. Bill collectors are worse than they were years ago - and they are notorious for telling you one thing on the phone, just to get a dollar from you, but then changing their story later and/or denying they entered into a deal with you. Always get settlements or deals in writing - always. No exceptions. If they won't put it in writing, then that's a huge red flag they are scamming you, or planning to screw you.

Please contact me if you can retain a lawyer to negotiate your debts and help buy you time to clear this all up.

Thanks.
