Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Michigan

i co-signed fora car for a past boy friend and he volunteered to reposed the car with out contacting me the co-signer and i guess he was behind on payment and neither did him or the bank for the loan contact me, and now i am the one stuck paying the payment every month what can i do about the situation? if i would known about the repo i would have stepped in a started to pay on the car
