Re: credit card debt of deceased husband
Under Michigan law, as of 1999, spouses are no longer responsible for the other spouse's debt. However, a divorce judgment may modify that between the two spouses but not as to the creditor.

Re: credit card debt of deceased husband
If there are probate assets, there is a chance the debts will need to be paid by a probate estate. If not, the surviving spouse is probably not responsible for the debt of a deceased spouse so long as the debt is not joint and the spouse did not use the credit cards after the death of the spouse.
