I am asking this question for a friend he is on a retirement income and am having difficulty paying for 4 credit cards if I stop paying can they garnish my pension check or my bank account?

Yes, pension payments and bank accounts can be garnished. You may be able to claim an exemption from garnishment, but it depends on your specific circumstances. If the balances of the credit cards are high enough to warrant it, bankruptcy may be a good option to look into.
