Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Michigan

Credit Card Liability

My husband has terminal cancer when he passes his credit card balances am I liable for them. He is the primary card holder it is not a joint account. I can make inquiries etc. but my name is not on the said account in any way.

I have tried to inquire with the card company and they are so rude to me and get hung up on. This so frustrating.

Would appreciate your help in this matter.

Thanking you in advance.

Re: Credit Card Liability

So long as your husband is the sole account holder, only he, and then his estate, are liable. Creditors might make a claim against his estate for debts not satisfied prior to his passing. This could affect what you would otherwise receive under a will, through intestacy, etc. www.lawgreg.com
