Credit card overdue

Hi, i have a credit card from 8 years ago that i forgot about, the credit limit on the card was $100 dollars and i never payed on it. 8 years later they are coming after me saying i owe them 1600 dollars. My question was, is there some sort of limit pertaining to the original balace as a maximum they can come after me for. Thank you so much for your time-dan

Re: Credit card overdue

There is a six year statute of limitations on breach of contract claims. Therefore, the credit card company may have waited too long to come after you. Your best bet is to deny the debt in writing and make them prove their case in court. If they failed to notify you of your balance, late fees, and interest rate increases, they will not be able to collect the sum they want.
