If you fall behind in credit card payments, you can be sued. If the creditor gets a judgment, your wages and bank account can be garnished, and in some instances, your personal property seized and/or a lien placed on your real property.
I help consumers with credit card debt who are being pursued by creditors, and will give you a free consultation if you wish to discuss your options. You can call me at 248.679.1552.

Chances are you're going to end up in arbitration, which means you're going to end up paying the bill, if it's legitimate.
Arbitration CAN work for you, but you also always have the option of trying to negotiate something (in writing) with the collection company.
Forum arbitrators are NOT biased in favor of credit card companies. The problem is that arbitrators don't have any discretion to invalidate a documented, legitimate debt.
Court's don't even have the discretion to change the facts, so those who slam arbitration are being a bit disingenuous.
[disclaimer: I am a credit card arbitrator, but I have also represented people in your situation as an attorney]
