Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Michigan

creditor wiped out accounts

I went to use my bank card which I knew had money and was told the card was denied. I came home and looked up my account online to find that I was overdrafted more than $600.00 and my savings was gone all but $0.01. I was not informed that this was going to happen to my personal account and when I called the creditor all they could tell me was how much I still owed. Then I spoke to my bank and they where no help either. I understand that they are legally allowed to do this, but don't they have to inform you of when it will take place? I was spending money like I had plenty in my account and the next thing I know I'm in the hole almost exactly what these people took out of the account. I would appreciate if you could let me know if this is allowed so that someone know has more debt than before. Thank you in advance.

Re: creditor wiped out accounts

Advance notice of a bank account garnishment is required. If it was, the garnishment would be futile because the account holder would withdraw the money.
