Dog loan

I got a loan for $1800 in my name for someone else. They were making the payments on it but are now refusing to and now I am paying the payments. Can I take the dog since the loan is in my name and I am now paying it?

did you have this other person sign any sort of agreement about the loan? Was the loan secured to the Dog?
