Re: Garnishment from paycheck

Is the garnishment the result of a valid judgment obtained against you? If so, you can file a petition with the court of jurisdiction and thereby seek a court order forcing a creditor to accept installment payments in lieu of garnishment. However, periodic payments must be made pursuant to any court order regarding installment payments, otherwise the creditor can move to resume the garnishment.
