Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Michigan

harrassing creditors

there are several creditors calling my mothers house all hours of the day, trying to locate my ex-husband whom i've not had contact with and have been divorced from for 4 years. What legal recorse do we have to get the harrassment stopped? i've called them several times and told them he can't be reached at that number and to remove it from their database, and they say they will; but a month later the calls start up again.

Re: harrassing creditors

Tell them that you will be recording the conversation and that they do not have permission to contact you again. Tell them that further contact will be prosecuted according to the law. Make sure you get the name and employee number of the person with whom you speak. Tell them that you need this information to provide a foundation for a future lawsuit should additional contact be made to your elderly mother.

Once you have done this, then follow-up by confirming the telephone conversation in writing.
