Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Michigan
healthcare bills
Is there a statute of limitations on healthcare bills? Can a hospital ask me to pay an old bill that is 7 or 8 years old? What if the insurance was billed wrong or never billed? Am I still responsible for the hospital's mistake?

Re: healthcare bills
Failure to pay an old bill is a breach of contract. Claims for breach of contract must be filed within the 6 year statute of limitation. The hospital can ask you to pay, but legally, they have no claim due to the lapse of the statute of limitation.

6 years is the limit from last payment. If over this, you have a great defense to the case. If in Metro Detroit, contact me at www.kliszlaw.com to discuss. Tim klisz
