Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Michigan

Hospital Bill

Am I responsible for a bill for blood tests even though I did not request it? I went to a doctor for a ''free'' sample of Viagra in 2002. Was a blood test really necessary.

Re: Hospital Bill

You are not responsible for tests which you did not authorize / consent to be performed. However, a blood test for diagnostic testing is likely necessary to rule out conditions which may be adverse to Viagra. If it was a follow-up test, it was likely necessary to determine the effect of the Viagra. In any event, if you allowed the blood draw, you impliedly consented to pay for it. If you did not want your blood drawn, the implication is that you would have prevented it from being done.

You have the option of disputing the bill. Creditors must discontinue collecting efforts if a debtor disputes the bill. For more information on what creditors can do to collect debts, please visit my website at www.lawrefs.com and search under the consumer link.
