Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Michigan

My husband and I are going through a divorce and our home mortgage is paid off. We have a home equity loan on the home. I signed a quit claim deed on the home and our divorce papers stated that he was to have my name (and liability) removed from the home equity loan. He "says" he tried and the bank refused. He is planning to stay in the home and refuses to refinance to remove my name from the loan. Is there such a thing as a "release of personal liability of co-borrower" application which can be submitted to try to get the bank to remove me from the loan? Any suggestions on how to deal with this so that I don't have the liability on a home I will have no interest in. Thanks.
