Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Michigan

Judgement -shows up on a credit report

I reside in Arizona, and have a defalt judgement from Michigan that now shows up on my credit report.

Is there anything I can do to have this removed from my file?

I would be more than happy to hire an Attorney, if there's some way to rectify this situation.

Thanks

Pat

Re: Judgement -shows up on a credit report

The answer to your question depends on whether the judgment is valid. If legal action was brought against you and you failed to answer or contest after receiving proper notice, you may now be barred from challenging the judgment. Depending on whether the judgment is valid, legally, you then would have to address your credit report. You are allowed to dispute inaccurate information with the credit reporting agency (CRA) showing the judgment. Upon receiving notice of the dispute, the CRA must investigate and give you the results of such investigation. A CRA must remove or correct inaccurate or unverified information from its files, usually within 30 days after you dispute it. Please note that the facts of your situation would need to be reviewed and analyzed in order to give you specific advice.
