Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Michigan
Late bill for service no longer in use
I canceled my internet service provider at the end of last year in response to an e-mail from them informing me about a price increase beginning in Jan. 2002. I e-mailed them and explained that I couldn't afford the service, and I then received a response that they understood but had to raise prices. I gave them a date of Jan 6 when I would be discontinuing their service. They responded. Today (April 10) I received a bill for services through April with a due date of January. Do I need to pay this bill?

Re: Late bill for service no longer in use
Have you been using the sevice after January (i.e. did you discontinue the service on the 6th)? You shouldn't have to pay for services you never received or asked for, once you cancelled service itself. It is difficult to answer your question without further information.
