Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Michigan

medical bill statute

Today my husband was contacted by the hospital about a 1000.00 bill from 1996 and 9-11-1997, it is now 4-7-2006 we have had kids at this same hospital, stitches, shoulder injury and rehab you name it. Not once did this come up. Do we pay it? This is like 12 years ago! They refused to give any information about the inccident and told us we would just have to talk to billing. Any ideas on what to do? We have great credit, its been ran about 10 times in the last 5 years and this has never come up.

Re: medical bill statute

The statute of limitations is 6 years from the last payment. So paying it is entirely questionable. If you get sued, contact me for legal assistance. www.kliszlaw.com Tim Klisz
