Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Michigan

I rebuild vintage Steinway pianos. The local Steinway dealer sent a grand piano to me for extensive restoration that has been complete for over 4 months. They have been unable to pay me anything as they are in financial crisis. I've never had this happen in 35 yrs in the trade so I don't know what to do. They owe me 12500.00 . I respect the legal profession but I am in serious financial hurt so hoping for a free answer if it's easy enough. P.S. The piano is still in my possession & I don't intend to release it until I am paid.

I would first review your contract with the other party. If you have a proper collection clause, you could get your attorney feed paid and still collect your money. If not, you will still need to have an attorney send them a letter or bring suit. I would be happy to assist you. Visit www.kliszlaw.com to get started. Tim Klisz
