Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Michigan

Sharing Personal Credit Card Information

I recently discovered Chase Bank shared some of my personal information (Account Balance . . . Late Payment Info . . . etc) without my persmission, with somebody who lives at my old residence. Is this legal?

Re: Sharing Personal Credit Card Information

No. Absolutely not. Under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and the Michigan Occupational Code, the collector may not communicated with any person other than the debtor in connection with the debt, except to obtain location information. In doing so, the debtor may not discuss the amount of the debt or any other matter.

These are two separate counts that you can file in once case. The law provides for attorney fees and costs. Therefore, there is no reason not to consult an attorney and I would be obliged to assist you.
