Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Michigan

small claims court.

I have two questions. Do judgements against someone in small claims court go on there permanent criminal record? Do judgements against someone in small claims court go against there credit rating? Thank you for your help.

Re: small claims court.

A small claims judgment would not go on your criminal record which records your criminal (not civil) history.

A judgment can show up on your credit report and therefore affect your credit rating. For specific information, please contact me at [email protected].

NO, they do not show up on your criminal report, but can be placed on your credit report if the creditor decides to have it placed on there. And yes, it will affect your credit rating. Keep in mind that judgments are good for at least 10 years, and can be used to garnish your wages.
