small claims

how do i file a small claims law suit on company i was sub contracted though. i worked for them in michigan and indiana. they are based out of florida and i am based out of michigan. no writen contract, everything was handled over the phone.

You can only file in small claims if you are seeking less than $3,000. You may benefit from the services of an attorney if you do not have an express contract. You will need to argue unjust enrichment, etc., which are generally more technical. If you retain an attorney, you may also have more luck with a settlement (ie it is unlikely this FL company will hire local counsel to defend the suit - particularly if you file a complaint in the district court and not small claims). This may be something an attorney could take on contingent fee depending on what is involved.
