thanks for your response. yes of course i do want to anwser the complaint however i am not in denial of the amount owed, i do owe it. so you are saying that i FIRST ANSWER TO THE COMPAINT before I call them?? can i call them first and then write on the answer of what was discussed?? i want to avoid going to a court date

It is important for you to answer the complaint so that you are not defaulted. Remember, the plaintiff has to prove the case against you. You do not have to prove that you do not owe. As such, typically there is a legally valid denial of some of the claims.
You will have plenty of time once you answer the complaint to settle the matter before a pretrial conference is scheduled.
I would not be so eager to reveal my desire to pay out. If the opposition thinks he has all the cards, he will feel he can bully you into paying more.
