Legal Question in Criminal Law in Michigan

2 counts felony assault and 2 counts domestic abuse

My boyfriend is in hail for 2 counts felony assault and 2 counts domestic abuse. He was pulled over this weekend and jail for these counts from back in October. I have written an email to the prosecuting attorney and explained to them that what happened was an accident and he is not a person who is dangerous. The incident was an accident and it was because my boyfriend does not drink but had had a couple of drinks that day. My boyfriend is of good character and has never been in any serious trouble before. He is a really good person and I stressed that in the email to the PA. The have him jailed as a hard core criminal, he is locked up in the area of the worst of the criminals. He just started a new job also as a supervisor with an automotive company and could truly affect our lives. I included the new job in my letter to the PA. I plan to be there when he goes before the judge on Monday. Other than a couple of DWI's close to ten years ago... he has been in no trouble and is a dedicated family man, no drinking, drugs or malicious behavior of any type. At the moment he has a court appointed attorney, but we will get an attorney. Will his character be considered? His history or lack there of? What might be the outcome for him?

It is not possible to guess at the outcome of his case without MUCH more information. However it is plain that your email to the prosecuting attorney may be more harmful to your boyfriend. You should not have sent that email. You need an experienced and aggressive attorney to help fight for your boyfriend and try to un-do any damage that you may have done to his case.
